"Excellent Service & Value at Trailfinders"

A review of Trailfinders by George - Wednesday 15th of September 2004

If you’re looking for a travel agent to book a holiday, Trailfinders are a very good option. Inconspicuously tucked away on the second floor of Waterstone’s, they’re well worth a visit if you’re considering any type of holiday anywhere in the world.

My own experience of Trailfinders was when booking a backpacking trip to Australia and New Zealand. At the time of booking I had only a vague idea of dates and routes, and didn’t know where to start looking.

The main reason I chose Trailfinders was because some backpacker friends had recommended them very highly, and when I popped into the Waterstone’s branch it was easy to see why. Not only were the flights very reasonably priced (probably my biggest consideration, being on a backpacker budget), but the range of options (routes, times, etc.) and the service were also very impressive. In fact it was quite hard choosing which of the many flights to go for!

However, the helpful staff knew what they were doing and soon sorted me out with a cheap return ticket on a quality airline (Singapore Airlines). This flexible ticket also allowed me limitless alterations to my onward and return dates at no extra charge - an ideal arrangement for backpackers, who have a tendency of not sticking to (or even having) plans! (I later came to appreciate this deal even more when I discovered that the vast majority of other backpackers not only had to pay extra to amend their flight times, but had also paid more for their tickets in the first place.) I therefore left Trailfinders very happy at having parted with £800, which can’t be bad.

OK, so I could have lived without the junk they kept sending me afterwards (sure, their brochures might be useful BEFORE you go on holiday, but why bother sending them while you’re away and after you get back?!) but I’ve no real complaints. Like my friends, I now pass my recommendations on to others looking to book holidays.
