"A TREAT"
A review of Midsummer House by Debra Bailey - Wednesday 15th of June 2005
My husband and I have been to Midsummer House now 4 or 5 times and each time have loved it, the staff are 'just' right, not over friendly or blase and the way the food is served is like a staged play. This is a destination restaurant and one that after having eaten we lament about our choices late into the night and the next day. I understand some people do not like to be advised by the waiting staff of th ingredients when bringing food to the table (Fay Maschler being one of them) I can understand this if you eat out every night, for us eating out once every few weeks, the sheer theatre and effort of it all is really endearing. As for value for money, we sat having brandy and coffee in the garden last summer and watched the effort and artistry being carried out by the chefs, through the open kitchen door, the food is priceless.
