A review of Aldi by Colin written on Monday 24th of July 2006
Aldi has been selling a Twin Tuner hard-drive video recorder recently, sounded such good value at £99 but.........I dicovered mine had a fault: An hour after switching it off, it would change he channel of my TV. I took it back and Aldi promptly exchanged it ( no problems with service at the Stevenage store) the exchanged one had the same fault, so I exchanged it again and guess what, this has the same fault. Because the picture quality of the recorded program is so good I decided to keep it and investigate the problem. I am an electronics engineer ) The problem turned out to be a switching voltage in the scart socket that seems to be caused by the hard-drive switching off after a period of no use. I was able to overcome the problem and now feel quite happy with the unit, even though it does have some minor irritations. For the price and performance, I can accept them. Colin.
