A review of La Tasca by Katie written on Tuesday 8th of August 2006
I've been to La Tasca three times now and having read some of the reviews posted here, I really feel that it needs a little praise based upon my experiences there, so here's my two cents.
For one, we managed to get a table when it was gone eleven on a saturday night, which was much appreciated as it was my friends birthday, nowhere else was accepting any more diners and kebabs weren't quite what we had in mind.
I quite liked the atmosphere personally. It has a vibrant theme which I think keeps in with the Spanish nature of the restaurant. At the the same time though, you feel a lot more comfortable there, as the restaurant ettiquette is obviously a lot more relaxed.
I've only ever eaten the tapas there as I've never really been with a group big enough to justify ordering a paella and it's not my favourite dish anyway but I have never been disappointed. I recomend the spanish meatballs, the anchovies, spicy lamb stew, calamari and choritzo sausage (the sauces are divine if mopped up with a bit of bread). Coupled with a nice cold corona with lime and finished with one(or a few) shots of thier numerous selection of stomach-settling liquers and I think totals to a fantastic, different and yet affordable dining experience.
The only gripe I had was that once we were seated it took a little too long for a waiter to come and take our order for drinks but that was soon resolved and amended with free shots. yum!
I plan to eat there again this coming week as my boyfriend has never eaten tapas before and i'm sure I shall eat there many more times!.
