A review of Tandoori Palace by Sam written on Thursday 19th of October 2006
My favourite curry house, and i've tried more than a few. Fantastic dishes for less than a fiver in a relaxed basic but very pleasant environment. The pickles and pupadums are as good as they come in the western hemisphere. But you need to know what not to order from this menu, i've tried most of it. Some dishes can be very dissappointing while others always please. As a general rule avoid the creamy mild dishes in this restaurant - too creamy and sweet. Also avoid the madras, too greasy and the tikka masala - boring. If you dont want spicy go for a tasty BHUNA. the best dish in the house is possibly the lamb dhansak. I thought it couldnt get any better until i tried a bit of my girlfriends garlic chicken! Truly amazing. Don't expect any kisses though. If you fancy a it bit more spicy the jalfrezi is also pretty good. Vindaoo here is not a killer but its tasty. Tandoori chicken is fantastic! The dopiaza has been known to be very very good but not consistently..
