"Poor service - What a shame"

I am not sure which chain of pubs this belongs to but I have eaten at another of theirs in Broadway in the Cotswolds which was fantastic.

It took a shabby run down Harvester style pub and re-modelled it into lovely venue to eat and drink. Excellent service, great choices of drinks, nice setting, great food and good value for money.

When I discovered the same had happened at the Plough I couldn't wait to go for a meal having had a drink there to see how good it looked.

Last Friday lunchtime I took my brother and 15 month old niece for lunch. The staff were all scruffy and dis-interested. The lacklustre service made me feel like they just couldn't be bothered. We weren't offered a high chair or assistance with my niece and when we did go to order the food I asked what soft drinks were available and the bar man just mumbled coke etc. Hardly any of the tables were tidy or cleaned and I also had difficulty locating a table number when asked to! There are none!

The food duly arrived and what a disappointmet, very small portions, the Salmon salad was pathetic and not very nice and the chips we shared were overcooked in old oil.

When the server came to clear the plates she was quite abrupt, didn't ask if our meal was ok or did we want anything else? She also nearly dropped half the plates on me as she was clearing them. I then went to the bar to pay and she curtly asked me to follow her to a till near the terrace entrance. As I was standing there waiting for her to process the bill I noticed how there was cutlery strewn on the floor, empty glasses and mess on the window sill.

I felt really annoyed at the whole place hardly been painted new and already being treated like a dump for which I had to pay £25 for the pleasure of.

All in all terrible staff I think they may have worked there when it was a dodgy pub as I recognised a few, and a terrible pub. I was so pleased when I first found out now sadly I wont be back to such a great location as the pub just does not live up to it's brand.

I just hope they can train the staff and the chef!!
