"Video only play black&white"

Had a tevion 42 inch lcd flat screen off aldi very good but only one problem i cannot get a video tape to play in colour tryed everything, help line said its because it's fully digital tv shops said thats a load of rubbish anyone out there had same thing or got any answers be very grateful.
