A review of The Alma by MB written on Friday 8th of February 2008

What has gone so badly wrong at The Alma? Once a friendly place with cheap food and a decent choice of beer, it has turned into a distinctly unfriendly, money-grabbing joint, where staff re-defines the concept of rudeness.

We went there last night, ordered several pizzas and a couple of beers, and asked for a glass of tap water. We were refused water on the account that it doesn't bring any profit to the landlord!! When questioned, the landlord said that 'other landlords just don't have the balls to tell that to their customers'. An hour or so later, a member of bar stuff spilt a glass of cider all over my friend, but didn't even mention the possibility of replacing the drink! I will certainly not be in any rush to go there again..
