Finally, a pub that seems to work very hard at being the heart of the local community. The Lion & Lamb is some 250 years old, and is a charming building on the high street. the interior is clean, well maintained and comfortable. good food is the key here with breakfast from 8 am momday to saturday, lunch and dinner served daily with Sunday lunch being the highlight of the week. the menu is interesting, although a little conservative. all dishes are locally sourced and home cooked where possible, coupled with very good value for the quality and size of portions. All of the staff have a friendly, caring manner about them, a friendly smile goes a long way these days! there is an enclosed play area with climbing frame and trampoline, on our visist the landlord stated he had a bouncy castle also for the summer. couple this with really good childrens food (not a chicken nugget or turkey tizzler in sight) and you have the perfect combination of happy kids and relaxed parents.

adults too are very well looked after, good food, excellent service and quick too at lunch times. in the evening the pub takes on it's village local theme and the same faces appear at he bar day in day out. they are well catrered for, not just with the food, but entertainment also. from quiz night to poker night, and karaoke too, this pub looks after it's locals and has enough appeal to bring diners in from afar.

my thoughts... if you are visiting or near to Cambridge, The Lion & Lamb has to be near the top of your list of visits. not just for beer, or food, but to see what made a traditional English pub the hub of local communities for hundreds of years..
