A review of CB2 by Elgar written on Thursday 17th of April 2008
Given the strength of feeling that the new management at CB2 has generated; I am amazed that the guy in hob-nailed boots is still plundering his way through all that has grown and evolved at CB2. Logan, Andrea, Voxpop, Sarah et mention time and time again that the atmosphere is being destroyed. CB2 is not just a bistro. It is a Cambridge establishment. Whether that atmosphere was generated by Kit with his quiet, elegant and capable manner or whether it is generated by the fabulous team of servers such as Bee, Chris, Merle and Magda is not known. Nevertheless it is a fundemental part of CB2. As is the food. Which has been diproportionately pushed up in price. It is naive to imagine that regulars and not so regulars will not be put off by abrasive and rude staff who hurriedly push you off the table and out of the door asap. The list goes on and on. But remember that CB2 is not a chain and that is what makes it interesting and refreshing. Cambridge has been eaten up by chains and we all know that the Council's greed has succeeded in driving out the small establishments that made Cambridge a lovely place to live. CB2 should pride itself on its individuality. Not destroy it..
