"Life without my American Express holiday money in Northern Spain"

I could not find a bank in touristy Santiago de Compostelo, Northern Spain who would cash my American Express Euro cheques. My hotel finally took pity on me and cashed 200 euros and this plus the couple of 100 euro notes we had taken with us kept us going for 10 days.
