A review of Browns Restaurant by A Cooper written on Sunday 18th of January 2009
I went to a birthday dinner at Browns in January 2009, it was pre-booked and for around 24 people. The limited menu I received was not very inspiring for which we had to pre choose the dishes, thats fine with a big party, example 6oz Rump Steak!!!good start. I was impressed by the actual building and general atmosphere which is very nice, however thats it! the service was dire with over an hours wait between courses, the waiting staff seemed totally confused about it all (why, it was pre-booked),the tables were all put together but we had so little room we could not eat at the same time. My steak when it did turn up was sent back as it was totally cremated!it was like a supermarket quick frying steak, and this from a restaurant!i got another one and this one was lightly coloued and completely raw inside. Just gave up after that and ate the small portion of chips and a tiny bit of lettuce, dessert not a lot better. Some of the food going to other tables did look nice but why do they take party bookings if they cant cater for them. Never complained before but this was totallt overpriced rubbish. sorry to say,and I could not recommend it to anyone..
