"Deserved reputation for worst service in Cambridge"

I visited Casbah with a group of 5 friends last week, and am sure never to return. We turned up punctually for our reservation, but had to wait outside on the pavement a full 45 minutes before we were even seated at our table. Our waiter made an attempt to leaven the situation by telling a joke as we sat down, but we were hardly in the mood to laugh at that time. Little did we know that the joke would be the highlight of the evening.

We were treated in a rude manner by three different waiters throughout the course of the evening, and while the food was genuinely tasty, the experience of visiting Al Casbah left such a bad taste in our mouth that we are sure never to return. To make matters worse, on leaving I discovered that the jacket which had been draped over the back of my chair had been thoroughly splashed with oil and meat juices by the wait staff in the course of their work. When I pointed this out to the young waiter, I was told in no uncertain terms to leave the restaurant immediately and never return. No hint of an apology or an acceptance of responsibility.

On logging on to this site, I was completely unsurprised to read that I am not alone in receiving such terrible and rude service. I can add my voice to the growing chorus of people who can confirm that Al Casbah thoroughly deserves its reputation for the worst service in Cambridge.

I suggest you avoid this venue. If you must have Mediterranean grilled meats, you'll have a more delicious meal and a much more enjoyable time at Carlos Kebab King just a few metres down the road.
