"From the beginning...'til now"

A review of Al-Amin by Anon written on Friday 19th of March 2010

I have to say, I have been shopping from Al Amin's for so many years, I have seen a major transformation from a small dingy store with the fruit an veg out front, and a vast expanse of rices out back to what is today. With this increible evolution over the last ten years or so, the price increase (more so in the last two years) is the disappointment. It is extortion at it's worst, and they can blame their suppliers, but it would have seemed more sensible to sell local produce in the way of fresh fruit and veg.

I find the owners (the two brothers) somewhat arrogant and the quality of the cooked food appalling. I adored the father of the owner when he used to be there and would go in if only to have a quick chat to brighten my day, now it's with the other members of staff at the till (the owners nephew and collegue).

Inspite of the high prices, Al Amin is still one of the best food retailers in Cambridge because of the incredibly vast selection, with such a rich history, however short it is, and truly is a wonderful family business. But lower your prices.
