I am sorry to hear about your experience when you tried to return some wallpaper to B & Q. I do know that they recently changed their returns policy which now states that unless you have a receipt, they are unable to refund your money. As well as this they reduced their refund time from 90 days to 45 days.

However, i believe that as long as you have your receipt, even if it is over the 45 days, B & Q will give you an exchange or a credit note as long as the product is resellable.

In this day and age, the retailer also needs to protect themselves against fraud and I have no objection to a reasonable returns policy.

PS Whilst it sounds as if the sales assistant was a little rude, allowances should be made as they are only B & Q employees at the end of the day and they do tend to be on the front line for all the customers' frustrations. Sometimes its hard to take continuous abuse.

I think the key is "Always keep your receipt". The blame doesnt always lie with the retailer. .
