A review of The Plough by Becki Charman written on Tuesday 5th of October 2010
I visited the Plough on sunday evening 3rd October 2010 with my 9 year old daughter and a friend. Catalogue of disasters from start to finish. The table we were given your arm stuck to whenever you put it down as did everything else. When i queried it with the waitress her reply was 'the varnish has gone' take the table out then and repair it is my advice. Our drinks arrived, my daughter wanted a blackcurrant and water but received blackcurrant and soda. I politely asked the waitress to replace it she gave me a very funny look but replaced it with - blackcurrant and lemonade. I returned it to the bar this time as she was thirsty and got it replaced with water after i had to explain that no not every child likes fizzy drinks. Our starters arrived which were fine but we ordered another round of drinks, again they came back wrong. 40 minutes later our food arrived very small portions and cold but by now we were just hungrey. It was not busy about 5.00 in the afternoon and there were at least 5 waitresses working. We received the bill and we had been charged for 3 blackcurrant and lemonades (no lemonades had been ordered at all their mistake) we asked the waitress who went off with it and came back with 1 taken off. So apparently at the plough fen ditton you're charged the price of a lemonade for tap water. By this time we'd had enough of complaining and left quickly. I will never return to the plough and have told anybody and everybody that will listen about our experience. It's such a shame because it is such a beautiful pub with beautiful surroundings it obviously needs better management. Oh and it's very very expensive and not good value for money at all..
