A review of All Alts by Red star written on Wednesday 31st of July 2013
I went there because it was the closest tailor I had. Mistake. From the moment the shop attendant said that he was going to "guess" how much cloth needed to be taken up from my silk gown, I should have left. The way exceeding clothing is measured is by (literally) spreading the cloth on the floor and measuring it with a measuring tape. No needles, nothing to mark where exactly the hem should be, just him writing his guess down in a note pad.
Well, after that, I was told that the hem would be made even and that more cloth would be left at the back to balance the volume of my derrière. I signed a slip where he had scribbled all this and two weeks later, I collected a destroyed night gown: shorter at the back, longer at the front. Uneven. Completely unwearable.
Obviously I complained. I was told that I know nothing about sewing, and I wasn't offered any means to mend the disaster apart from sending the dress back to Leicester (!?) where someone would mend it (It was then when I realised that if they don't use needles for pinning where the hem needs to be taken is because they are just shop assistants and not tailors). He didn't want to take any responsibility because he told me that "he was only guessing", and obviously, when you guess something, you may get it wrong. True. My fault obviously.
Never ever again. Horrible customer service. Horrible quality. Pricey. Please protect your clothes. Don't go there. .
