A review of Footlights Restaurant & Bar by K Simpson written on Wednesday 17th of December 2003
After reading the reviews on this site, myself and a group of five friends went to Footlights last week expecting to find good food, good music and decent service. We had a 40 minute wait at the bar to be served, we then waited 15 minutes after being seated to order our food and a jug of water, then after being told they had run out of half of the menu we waited a further 20 minutes for our starters and asked again about the jug of water, the starters were average. After about half an hour our main course arrived, one of my friends had ordered a medium-rare steak with jacket potato and she got a well-done steak with chips. The breaded mushrooms were missed off of some of their plates, when questioned the waiter simply said “we ran out, with no offer of an alternative. The chips that came with three of the meals were undercooked. We then asked to see the manager and told him our complaints, he was very apologetic and gave us two of the meals free, garlic bread, chips and a round of drinks, oh and the jug of water! When we received the bill they had the cheek to charge us for service.. not once during our meal did anyone come and ask us if we were OK. My advice is… steer clear of Footlights if you want a decent meal out….
