A review of The Cambridge Cheese Company by Pru written on Monday 8th of March 2004
I WAS a fan of this cheese shop. The sandwiches drew me here most lunch times however when the owner told my French friend what cheese he should or should not be in his sandwich, that was it. I also noticed that the Turkish Apple Tea I had taken a liking to was around 40% cheaper at Waitrose for the exact same thing! They very rarely offer a taster of the cheeses (even if you've never bought it before and want to try something new) which is a great disappointment since my favourite cheeses varied hugely each time I bought some. Now I prefer to stock up on cheese when I'm in France or in London at the Neal's Yard Dairy (Covent Garden), where they automatically give you a piece to try (no asking required) and there's no pressure for you to buy. The prices are also comparable to Cambridge even though this place is slap bang in the middle of London. .
