A review of Footlights Restaurant & Bar by Mrs H Allen written on Monday 9th of August 2004
After drinking and eating in Footlights for many years I was absolutely disgusted at the way me and my family were treated at the weekend. We ordered a lager and lime with other drinks and it was obvious that both waiters did not understand our request. We were brought our drinks and the lime was missing. We requested it again and the waiter brought to slices of lemon on a plate, then a shot of lemon juice in a glass so my brother in law offered to show the waiter what is was at the bar. The waiter was more than happy for him to do that and we were all laughing about it . However, the supervisor of the bar then accused my brother in law of lying about having the lime to start with and got aggressive and abusive including making a rude gesture at my brother in-law as he walked away. I then asked to speak to the manager and the supervisor then started shouting at me about the lime AGAIN although he was in the wrong and then said he didn't want us in his bar!!! He also accused us of patronizing his staff although none of us had even mentioned the staff and the waiter dealing with us had been more than apologetic about the ERROR! The only person who had been rude was the supervisor.
I have never been treated so badly by anyone in my life and will definitely be taking this further.
I find it appalling that this person represented English bar staff in such a cosmopolitan city.
I am still very angry that a beautiful day in Cambridge was ruined by the awful attitude of one very rude individual!
My friends and family will not be going back!
