A review of The Royal Bank Of Scotland by DeeJayTee written on Wednesday 1st of September 2004
In my time at the Royal bank of Scotland I have been pleasantly surprised to find a company that will seemingly bend over backwards to help you out, well almost. This may surprise you as it did me, to find such a BANK in this day and age. But there it is. I am talking mostly about their home insurance package as I find it is second to none. Certainly none that I have found so far.
I have made several claims on the insurance so far and I have been with them for just over a year. They are cheap and easy to use. Some would say I have abused the system by claiming so often and that premiums will go up as a result. However, the way I see it there is no point in paying if you don’t ever claim. It will take many years for them to recoup the money they have spent on me so far. My premiums went up by two or three pounds to reflect this, so they aren’t stupid. They make their money by customer loyalty and good service encourages this. The customer service for this service has been exceptional. I don’t give praise like this lightly.
I have a bank account and home contents insurance with The Royal bank of Scotland and so here I may have an axe to grind. Don’t get me wrong, the staff at The Royal bank of Scotland Trinity street branch are equally well trained and exceptionally polite as the home insurance people. However branch and management aren’t always the same thing. I had far too much trouble upgrading my account to a graduate account and ended up writing a letter of complaint. I was told contradictory things by branch staff and letters from head office. Finally I got an apology and continue to be happy with the service I am provided with. It was a great shame, because it was like a fly in their supremely blended ointment. Overall I am very happy to be a customer of theirs and will certainly continue to do so, fly or not.
