"Dixons products overpriced"

A review of Currys by Ron Dixon written on Saturday 19th of April 2003

It seems those cunning people at Dixons have priced to get at least £5 out of you, even for things which cost £2 or £3 in other electrical stores.

I went to their Lion yard shop looking for an aerial to connect my TV to my video, and noticed that all their audio/ TV leads are at least £4.95. The actual one I wanted was 5.95, which I thought pretty steep for a simple wire.

OK £6 is not a lot of money, but there is a priciple at stake here. I resent paying over the odds, even if it doesn't break the bank.

In the end I went to Maplin and got the same lead for £3. That is a fair price. I think I'll just go straight to Maplins next time..
