A review of The World Famous Comfort Cafe by Cynthia Brown written on Sunday 25th of December 2011
.......because it was a lorry drivers' cafe and drivers from all over, (Europe anyway), got to know that they could get a good meal there and have no trouble parking in the huge carpark.
I live fairly close to the cafe, quite regularly eat there and am usually quite happy with it.
One problem is that most of the staff, (who change so regularly that I never see the same people more than twice!), do not have a good grasp of the English language which makes them appear to be rather unfriendly. You have to be very clear about what you require to make sure they understand.
The food is very good, in my opinion. Quite like old-fashioned home cooking, if you have one of the traditional meals. You get large portions with sometimes as many as five different vegetables.
I find it far superior, and certainly not more expensive to the meals in the nearby Little Chef which are all frozen and mass produced.
I have no connection with The Comfort - I just use it and this is an unbiased opinion.
