"In a haze of nostalger"

1948/9

Mr Leach Mr Varley others I see but cannot name, Flowers and gardens at the back of the school. How to green manure the garden with stinging nettles. Play football on the City grounds. Before all the junior school, sitting cross leg listening to a teacher playing music. Music at assembly. Oval thin mats to sleep at lunch time. Mr Varley giving me the 11plus results in an envelope to give to my dad.

Walking to school by the river over the bridge up Kimberly Road across Chesterton Road up a road down an alley and across Milton Road to school.

I loved it.

Platters great

Judith, and others great.

Net ball, to help the girls play their matches.

A load of lads on to The Central school. Then to the Grammer, Queen Edith's way.

Mr Parker French

Mr Smith English clout round the ear with his ring, it hurt.

I loved school.

Not very good but it was great

Did,nt like Mr Evans . Mr Bell was ok.

The metal work teacher was fine, his name escapes me.

The pupils well some I remember with dislike and others with ambivilance,

Christian. Rose. Payne. And others

Left school and life began!.
