A review of Peking Restaurant by Tim Phillips written on Sunday 31st of July 2005
You won't get better food than this and anyone who says otherwise is misguided. As for msg, that reviewer is either mad or has seriously damaged taste buds - msg would not get within a mile of the Peking.
The trouble is that this is a REAL Chinese restaurant and shows up the deficiencies of all the others; I suspect the negative reviewers know no better.
As for prices; this is some of the best food in East Anglia, irrespective of ethnic origin - make comparisons with other serious gourmet restaurants and you will find that the Peking actually udersells itself.
The test? Try to make Hunan Prawns for much less that the restaurant price, given the size of portion and the expensive accompanying ingredients.
Don't go if you are a cheapskate; prepare to pay the right price for this standard of food..
