"Customers expectations?"

I have worked for halfords the past 5 years, part time through all of it, as i went to college and now university.

I don't claim to know everything and learn something every shift, though i do now know enough to get me through any shift with out too much difficulty!

Sometimes good customer service can be absent which turns into a complaint, however sometimes its just the customer and their attitude.

for instance I have sold and fitted plenty of bulbs to people of most ages and cars, most of the time, being chatty and also quick questions about their engine, which ends fine they are happy to pay and be on their way

how ever one day i remember a young woman coming upto the desk asking for a bulb, so i looked it up gave it to her, and she wanted fitting, so i went out, opened the bonnet and started.

I managed to pull out the bulb holder + headlight bulb, (was cold so took abit longer than usual as it was abit jammed) pulled out the bulb put the new one in and told her to put the lights on to check, it didnt turn on, i looked at the connector and it did seem rusty, and also the plastic was abit deformed (melted) it was an old looking car though, i said its not turning on, looks like its a wire fault you would need to go to a garage or something to sort it out as we cant do that here, and said she didnt have to pay for anything.

put the old one back in and all back, was closing the bonnet and she says i cant believe you charge for that in a sort of unbelievable tone of voice (even though i said i wouldn't seeing as nothing was changed) gave me a sigh and looks at her phone

I was abit confused and pritty much just said ok thinking that was an odd thing to say, seeing as she did not even know how to open her own bonnet so its not like she could of done it herself :S

later i was on my dinner and a mate walked in to wash his hands saying did you serve etc ... apparently she came back and he did the same thing!!

i can imagine she is someone that would say halfords is **** bla bla, but for what? because she has an old car with rusting connections.
