A review of University Cycles by Wookey written on Tuesday 15th of September 2015
University Cycles is a remarkable shop. Inside a scruffy front is a canyon of bicycles. You struggle down to the far end where the ever-helpful Colin will fish out a saddle or tyre or bottom bracket from the mess he calls a shop. He'll try very hard to sell you one that is only £4 rather £40. If you don't like the saddle then bring it back and try another - no problem.
If you want a bike he'll very patiently let you try them out until you get something you are happy with.
This is not a place to buy the latest expensive bike bits, or the exact model of something you saw on the net. This is an old-fashioned shop that offers excellent service and amazing value. I've been coming here for years, and always enjoy a visit (with a chat is the queue of customers is not too long)..
